Tesla's Battery Storage Unit, Megapack, Signals Robust Year-End Performance

Tesla Megafactory in Lathrop Powered by 270 Megapack Batteries

In an exciting development, Tesla Energy is gearing up for a strong finish to 2023. Evidence of this comes in the form of a fleet of 270 Megapack batteries recently spotted at the Megafactory in Lathrop, California.

The Megapack, Tesla's largest battery storage unit designed for grid use, has already made waves across various global projects. Tesla offers two versions of the Megapack: a 2-hour variant that delivers 1.9 MW of power and 3.9 MWh of energy, and a 4-hour variant that provides 1 MW of power and 3.9 MWh of energy.

Power and Pricing Details

Tesla's order page reveals the pricing details for the flagship battery storage unit, the Megapack. The 4-hour variant, including installation, is listed at $1,989,290, while the 2-hour version with installation costs $2,243,750. Without installation charges, the 2-hour Megapack is priced at $1,454,540, and the 4-hour version is priced at $1,378,030.

Witness the Flyover

To get a closer look at the Fremont Factory and the Tesla Megafactory, watch the captivating flyover video below. Marvel at the scale of operations and catch a glimpse of the impressive Megapack fleet that promises to propel Tesla Energy forward as the year comes to a close.

Aerial Discovery of the Megapack Fleet

Met God in Wilderness, a dedicated Tesla watcher, recently took to the skies to capture footage of the Fremont Factory and Lathrop Megafactory. During the flyover, the drone operator spotted an impressive sight—113 Megapack batteries neatly arranged in the staging area of the Lathrop Megafactory. But that wasn't all! Across the road, another 157 Megapacks were observed in a nearby staging area.

Strong Momentum for Tesla Energy

The discovery of this Megapack fleet suggests that Tesla Energy is poised to end the year on a high note. While Tesla Energy often takes a backseat to the company's electric vehicle business, this division has gained momentum throughout the year. In Tesla's Q2 2023 Update Letter, it was revealed that the Lathrop Megafactory has played a significant role in driving the growth of Tesla Energy as a whole.

According to Tesla's update, "Energy storage deployments increased by 222% YoY in Q2 to 3.7 GWh, another strong quarter due to the ongoing ramp of our first dedicated Megapack factory (Megafactory) in Lathrop, CA. The ramp of this 40 GWh Megafactory – the first of many – has been successful with still more room to reach full capacity.'

Debunking the Myth of Declining EV Demand: A Closer Look at Tesla's Unprecedented Growth

by Lars EVBASE November 01, 2023 8 Comments

The article refutes the notion of declining Electric Vehicle (EV) demand, highlighting instead the robust sales and growth of Tesla in various global markets. It mentions how specific instances like Panasonic's reduced battery cell production are misleadingly used to suggest a broader demand issue. The article emphasizes Tesla's record-breaking sales, especially the Model Y becoming the world's best-selling car, as evidence of strong EV demand. It also contrasts Tesla's success with traditional automakers like Ford, who are reportedly facing demand issues, attributing this discrepancy to legacy automakers' reluctance to fully embrace the EV transition due to short-term financial concerns.
